Rev. Dr. Gwendolyn Denise Pierce is a “Born-again, Spirit-filled and Spirit led" woman of God whose goal is to love the Lord with all her heart, and all her soul and all her strength. Dr. Pierce has a unique diverse background in ministry. In 2005 she was licensed and ordained as Elder at Faith Temple Church, For All Nations, Pentecostal Deliverance Ministry, in Washington D.C.
Dr. Pierce served as the Assistant and Associate Pastor of Petworth United Methodist Church and the Mustard Seed Cooperative Parish, a Parish comprised of four United Methodist Churches, Franklin P. Nash, Petworth, Ryland-Epworth, and Van Buren under the leadership of The Reverend Doctor John C. Warren. She was actively involved in pastoral activity, where she created a Monthly Prayer Breakfast to get to know the members at each church by building unity and outreach ministries among the four churches so that all members could contribute, voice opinions, and spread the word to grow the four declining churches.
Dr. Pierce’s life journey is to advance God’s Kingdom agenda while on this earth as one of God’s chosen vessels, a servant of the Highest to lead, inspire and empower the people by her God Given Assignments, to Educate, Demonstrate and Motivate through the Power of the Holy Spirit. Dr. Pierce is a gifted visionary who has designed and facilitated workshops/conferences and seminars for youth and their parents including the Divine Connection Conference in 2008: "Taking Back What the Enemy Has Stolen!" Conference; 2009 Mothers and Daughters Empowerment Summit; Daughters of Zion Conference; Celebrating Restoration, Salvation with Determination Seminar: How to Heal Your Mind, Body, and Soul (Mentally, Physically, Spiritually, Emotionally, Sexually, and Financially) in God's Divine Power by Renewing an Impoverish Spirit of the Mind; 2009 Youth Empowerment Summit. Dr. Pierce designed and created the brand for The Mustard Seed Cooperative Parish by designing a logo that was incorporated on every letter head, program booklet for the Cooperative Parish and a Website that was viewed by many. Most of these fresh ideas have become wildly popular which had drawn the members all closer together especially with the Monthly Prayer Breakfast.
Dr. Pierce sermons were insightful, self-reflective, and instructive. Dr. Pierce tenure introduced a mentoring program called, The Christian Rites of Passage, A Model for Young Women with Low Self-Esteem: Beautiful Daughters Crying Out Loud, But No One Is Listening, and It Hurts, and P.R.A.Y.E.R. for the Youth, Inc., Health and Wholeness Ministry, Women's Empowerment Conference, and a Grace Girl Shine! John 8:12, Woman’s Ministry who Impact lives through Prayer, by Building a Solid lifestyle of Prayer in the Community. Dr. Pierce is a “Prayer Warrior” standing on the walls interceding for others and praying God’s will be done in all things.
Dr. Pierce has worked in various churches in many different areas including Weekly Bible study, Preaching/Teaching, Pastoral Care, Visiting the Sick and Shut-in, and ending with the National Veterans Sheros' Ministry, until she relocated to her hometown in Birmingham, Alabama.
Dr. Pierce has also served as an Intern Hospital Chaplain at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington D.C., she completed her 200 hours of practical training at Doctors Community Hospital, where she became one of the Board-Certified Chaplain to teach the Clinical Pastoral Care Training at Doctors Community Hospital, in Lanham Maryland, she was a certified trainer as a healthcare chaplain.
Dr. Pierce earned her doctorate at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D. C.; a Master of Divinity Degree from Howard University School of Divinity; and a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Electronic Studio (Advance Multimedia) from Howard University in Washington, D.C. She also has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Marymount University in Graphic Design, with a minor in Communication Design specializing in Advertising design. She is a member of the American Psychotherapy Association, Association of Professional Chaplains, and Homeland Security.
Dr. Pierce is a self-published author of the two books Nothing but the Truth, Broken Pieces, Rebuilding Faith and Determination, Dealing with Life’s Challenges – When the Adversary Seeks to Devour and Destroy the Mind, Body, and Soul, and is now working on her third book, due to come out soon. Dr. Pierce strives to educate, demonstrate, and motivate women who are in spiritual need of support who suffers with brokenness, and low self-esteem.
Dr. Pierce is currently the Pastor at Saint Luke A.M.E Church, Hueytown, Alabama, she is ordained as a Local Deacon in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, in the North Alabama Annual Conference. She is a member of Saint John A.M.E. Church, Downtown Birmingham, under the pastorage of the Reverend Doctor Ronald Sterling.
Rev. Dr. Pierce is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. She settled in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area in 1986 after serving 15.5 years in the U.S. Army and 21 years in the Federal Government: Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA); The Department of Defense, (DOD) Pentagon; The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) & the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA); and retired with a total of 36 years of Federal Service.
Dr. Pierce has two adult sons Kireem (LaNitra) and Karlos Jeter (Anastasia), and twelve grandchildren, and her adorable pet Pekingese Prince Precious. To God be the glory for all He has done!
