Our Mission and Vision

Restoration

“To Serve the Community, About A Supernatural God, & Having Supernatural Faith, In A Supernatural Loving God, With Supernatural Powers; Who Restores the Mind, Mold & Reshapes the Heart to Have A Christ Minded Spirit.”

Our Vision Is Based on Scriptures (Romans 5:1-2; Acts 2:38)
“Those who have the mind of Christ are able to discern spiritual things that the natural man (or the unbeliever) cannot understand or see. Having the mind of Christ is the same as being indwelt by the Holy Spirit, and both are attained through faith at the moment of salvation”
(Romans 5:1-2; Acts 2:38).

Saint Luke A.M.E. Church – Hueytown Alabama is a church located in Hueytown, Alabama that’s committed to propagating God’s teachings through our different church services. Here, we strive to draw more people closer to God’s love and help them live His teachings. More than just a church, we’re a family of believers who love the Almighty God and help each other live according to His will.

Rev. Dr. Gwendolyn D. Pierce 3

Rev. Dr. Gwendolyn Denise Pierce is a woman of extraordinary faith, resilience, and purpose. A visionary pastor, pioneering wellness advocate, decorated federal servant, disabled veteran, and anointed minister of the Gospel, she stands as a living testament to the redemptive and restorative power of God. For over four decades, she has faithfully answered the call of God — serving in the pulpit, the community, the military, and the halls of government — never wavering in her commitment to Faith, Health, and Salvation in the Community.

Pastoral Ministry & Calling

Rev. Dr. Pierce has served in ministry for over 40 years and brings more than 25 years of pastoral leadership experience to her calling. She has served as the Senior Pastor of Saint Luke AME Church-Hueytown, Alabama for five years, providing spiritual leadership, community engagement, and transformative ministry without compensation — a reflection of her unwavering dedication to the people God has entrusted to her care.

As a Board-Certified Chaplain, she has served as a hospital chaplain instructor, providing spiritual care and guidance in clinical settings. Her chaplaincy work reflects her belief that ministry extends far beyond the four walls of the church and into every place where people need the presence of God.

Education & Academic Achievements

Rev. Dr. Pierce holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Marymount University, two Master’s degrees from the prestigious Howard University, and a Doctorate from Wesley Theological Seminary. Her academic journey reflects a lifelong commitment to excellence, scholarship, and the pursuit of knowledge in service to God and community.

She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design and a Master of Fine Arts in Electronic Studio — encompassing web design, animation, video production, photography, and digital media arts — credentials she has put to use in both her professional career and her ministry brand development.

Federal Service & Military Career

Rev. Dr. Pierce is a proud United States Army veteran who served her country with honor and distinction for 15.5 years — until she was diagnosed with Stage 3 Sarcoidosis, a serious and debilitating illness. Her military service, combined with her subsequent civilian federal career with the Department of Defense, reflects a combined 36 years of dedicated public service to the United States of America. She is a Disabled Veteran.

During her tenure with the Department of Defense, Rev. Dr. Pierce served as a Senior Graphic Designer, Analyst, and Multimedia Specialist within the Intelligence Community, where she held a Top Secret/SCI security clearance. She also served as an instructor in computer graphics at the collegiate level, sharing her technical expertise with the next generation of professionals.

Her journey through federal workplace persecution — which she describes as an “administrative lynching” — ultimately resulted in her complete vindication. This defining chapter of her life became the foundation of her book, Vindicated by Faith, and serves as a powerful testimony that God is the ultimate vindicator.

Pioneer in Faith-Based Holistic Wellness

For over 25 years, Rev. Dr. Pierce has been a pioneering voice in faith-based holistic wellness — long before the intersection of faith and health became a mainstream conversation. Under her signature ministry track, “Faith and Health in the Community,” she has dedicated her ministry to Health and Wholeness, addressing the total person — mind, body, soul, and spirit.

She is the creator of the groundbreaking workshop, “Detoxing the Mind, Body, and Soul” — a comprehensive wellness framework addressing wholeness mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally, and financially. This five-dimensional approach to wellness, rooted in Scripture and practical application, was decades ahead of its time and continues to transform lives today.

Her annual Health & Wellness Summit has brought together medical professionals, community leaders, and faith communities to address critical health disparities affecting underserved populations. Most recently, her Men’s Health & Wellness Summit — held February 28, 2026 at Saint Luke AME Church-Hueytown — featured UAB Medical specialists, the Birmingham Black Nurses Association, Catalyst By Southern Research, and Vascular & Interventional Specialists of Alabama, offering free health screenings and genetic testing to the community.

Celebrating Sisters in the Spirit

Rev. Dr. Pierce is the Founder of Celebrating Sisters in the Spirit, a Holy Ghost-empowered 501(c)(3) nonprofit women’s ministry operating under the mandate to Unite, Uplift, and Unleash every woman into her God-given purpose. Grounded in the covenant, “I will not tear my sister down, but cover her in the Blood of Jesus,” Celebrating Sisters in the Spirit stands as a safe, Spirit-filled space where women are healed, strengthened, and released into their destiny.

Prayer For The Youth, INC

Rev. Dr. Pierce is the Founder of Prayer For The Youth, INC, a youth-focused ministry and mentoring organization committed to investing in the next generation. Under this ministry umbrella she created:

“I CAN” — A mentoring program specifically designed for young women, empowering them to discover their identity, potential, and purpose in God.

Daughters are Crying Out Loud and No One Is Listening, and It Hurts — A compassionate outreach program within the “I CAN” ministry that provides a safe space for young women to be heard, healed, and restored.

Matters of the Heart Outreach Ministry

Rev. Dr. Pierce founded Matters of the Heart Outreach Ministry, a Health and Wholeness Ministry with a holistic approach to healing that addresses the complete person — Mind, Body, Soul, and Spirit — Mentally, Physically, Spiritually, Emotionally, and Financially. This ministry equips individuals and communities with the tools and resources needed to live whole, healthy, and purpose-driven lives in alignment with God’s Word.

Prayers of Expressions Prayer Ministry

For six years, Rev. Dr. Pierce has led Prayers of Expressions, an interdenominational prayer conference call ministry open to all who desire to pray. Meeting three times each week, the ministry gathers 12 to 24 participants from across the country for Spirit-led prayer every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9:00 AM EST / 10:00 AM CST.

Miraculous Monday  •  Wondrous Wednesday  •  Faithful Friday

Prayers of Expressions is a testimony to Rev. Dr. Pierce’s conviction that prayer is not merely a religious exercise — it is a living, breathing expression of faith in a God who hears and answers. Over six faithful years, this ministry has become a spiritual anchor for participants who gather consistently to seek the face of God together.

Jesus Is On His Way Back!

To gather all His Saints to Heaven

(I Cor. 15: 51-52; I Thes. 4: 16-17; and II Thes. 2: 1).

Those who have not accepted the redemptive work of Jesus Christ will suffer eternal separation from the God. The devil and his angels, the beast and the false prophet, and anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life, shall be consigned to everlasting punishment in the lake of fire which burns with brimstone.

This is the second death, the lake of fire. (Rev. 19: 20; 20: 10-15)
